Tuesday Tips - Life Drawing Exercise: CONTOUR LINEOne of the most straight forward tip I have about Life Drawing. It kind of goes against what most life drawing instructors will tell you. The first thing you’ll hear is “Draw from the inside.” A contour line on a figure drawing is about the most superficial way to approach it BUT, it will help you tremendously at finding a clear silhouette. By the way, no one says you can’t slightly alter the silhouette you are looking at. If there’s a way to make it clearer or make a better statement, go for it. Drawing is about making decisions, not just copying what you’re seeing. The same way other techniques will help understand how the body functions, using a contour line as an exercise will help you find proportions, angles of the body and general appeal in your posing.Normand

People don’t like creases in posters! I know that I was taught never to fold art. So I devised a very uh… thrifty… method to prevent such crimes.

This is how I will be mailing my posters via letter-size envelopes. Would anyone be interested in this method? It’s about $18 cheaper than the alternative (mailing tubes).

Also feel free to try this out because I think it could be helpful to many.

Oh, and if there are concerns about me taping to the printed side, it is actually easier to peel off the tape from the oil-based ink. :)

I think I’m going to use this method for my prints because I tried it and just sat on it and it withstood the force of my butt.

This is fantastic.

Canada Post charges over $20 to ship a poster tube to the States.  Joodlez, your contributions to society will not go unrecognized.

I might actually start doing prints again

Hiya how do you draw arms crossed over?
Ahh, I saw your amazingly adorable Shiki and I just wanna compliment you on that, because it really is impressive. Also could I ask a few questions? ;w; Say, would you happen to know about any English translated Emofuri? And- do you use a bamboo and paint tool SAI, by chance?

hakeism:

//0// thank you very much!!!

There’s no English-translated Emofuri yet - but I wouldn’t be surprised if people are already working on an unofficial English patch! Here’s some links that I hope will be of use in the meantime:

And I use Intuos3 and SAI!

I WANT A GOOD PENCIL BRUSH FOR PAINT TOOL SAI

SLAMS FIST ON TABLE

uhh, you can use mine if you’d like?

You have to add smudges though if you really want it to look like a pencil

image

also if you have photoshop, you can make it look a lil more like it’s been scanned in if you shift the channels a pixel or so like people do to make the 3D effect

'idk line v2' is a brush I made, it's just:

If you’ve not installed a sai brush before, you just need to go to your SAI directory

(usually in appdata/local/systemax/easy paint tool sai or appdata/local/zame/paint tool sai english pack.)
(
Type “%appdata%” into your start bar to jump to the folder to have a look)

And save that image as a .bmp in the elemap folder.
You then need to restart sai, but open it by using ‘start-sai.exe’ as that updates your config files.
